This letter was written shortly before Max and Lalla Arnstein left Knoxville and moved to New York City, though they remained benefactors of the Knoxville Jewish community.  I. Beiler was Isidore Beiler, an active member of Temple Beth El.  Ben Winick was an attorney and a member of Heska Amuna Synagogue.  Ben’s daughter, Barbara Winick Bernstein, is the third generation of the Winick family to be actively involved in the Knoxville Jewish community.
