The Way We Were circa 1930

The Way We Were circa 1930

Childhood Pals

Left to right: the late Mitchell Robinson and the late Hyman (Truck) Collins, around age five.

The Robinson and Collins families (Rabbi AJ and Sylvia Robinson; Isadore and Pearl Collins) were neighbors on North Fourth Avenue for a few years when these two were young. Hyman’s daughter Jan Collins Gladstone recalls that her father’s favorite childhood toy was a truck, and he may have had that nickname most of his life.

Mitchell’s wife Natalie and son Pace live in Knoxville. Collins relatives Alan Danziger and Laura Berry live in Knoxville.

Thanks to Natalie Robinson for the donation of this photograph.
