The Way We Were in 2003

Knoxville Jewish Alliance’s First Mitzvah Day

Mitzvah Day in 2003 included craft projects, blood donations, preschool classroom improvements, creating a wall hanging to be sent to KJA’s sister city Hadera, Israel, singing at an assisted living facility, and other good deeds.

Susan Baker and son Eli Derrington, a Dalet class student at the AJCC Preschool, enjoy mac ‘n’ cheese at a Mitzvah Day luncheon. Susan currently lives in Knoxville, while Eli is an undergraduate student at Georgia Tech.

Thank you to The Knoxville Jewish Community Center Voice, February 2003 issue (Joyce York, editor), for the photograph and text.
