The Way We Were in 1969
This is the yellow-page ad for Harold’s Kosher Style Food Center that appeared in the 1969 Knoxville phone book.  Harold’s, owned by Harold Shersky (1919-2008) and run by Harold and his beloved wife Addie (1920-2003), operated for over 55 years at this location on Gay Street. It was the place to eat and meet downtown for Jewish (as well as other) business people and groups for many years. Some memorabilia of the deli can be found at Elmcroft of West Knoxville on Gleason Road, where Harold lived at the end of his life.
