Community Engagement Director

The Knoxville Jewish Alliance is hiring a full-time Community Engagement Director to oversee community programming and communications. Duties will include event planning, coordinating KJA and community programs, maintaining the community calendar, managing communications for the KJA including weekly emails, monthly newsletter, website updates, social media posts, and press releases. 

Required qualifications for the position include a strong knowledge of Judaism and Jewish culture, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organizational and coordinating abilities, computer skills. Ability to layout newsletter for publication using Adobe InDesign or like software, professional writing and editing experience, and event planning experience preferred.

PJ Library-PJ Our Way Coordinator/Preschool Judaica Specialist

We are looking for a dynamic person to coordinate the PJ Library and PJ Our Way Program and serve as the Judaica Program Specialist for the Preschool at AJCC for 25-30 hours/week.  The Judaica Specialist hours will be a set schedule each week.  There is more flexibility in the PJ Library/PJ Our Way Coordinator schedule, but it may require some Sunday or evening hours.

 

PJ Library is an international program that supports families in their Jewish journeys by sending free Jewish-content books monthly to children 6 months-8 years.  PJ Our Way offers the gift of exceptional books with Jewish themes for kids 9-11.

 

Preschool at AJCC is a play-based learning center for infants through Pre-K that is guided by Jewish values and culture. We embrace all faiths and foster individual learning, peer relationships, and socially responsible values in education. We are rooted in Jewish values including learning, community, friendship, and acts of loving kindness and we exist to empower children to be and do their best to make the world a better place.

Preschool at AJCC is hiring!

Preschool at AJCC is a TN three-star rated early childhood educational facility that fosters learning through a play-based environment while implementing the most current educational practices for social and emotional and cognitive skills towards kindergarten readiness. The curriculum integrates the school's unique and vast indoor and outdoor space. 

 

Infant/Toddler Teacher supports the Students & Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and creating activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment if numbers allow. S/he will implement a quality educational program and develop positive relationships with infant children and their parents, the Infant Teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. The Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Curriculum Coordinator and the Director. This position reports to Early Childhood Program Director and Assistant Director.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.

Actively engage in activities;

manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.

Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.

Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.

Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.

Follow all center policies and state regulations.

Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required Minimum of 1-2 years of professional child care experience. High energy. Ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. An understanding of child development. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or intent to gain certification Knowledge of the Jewish culture Must clear full background check and must pass health screening. Educational Requirements High School Diploma or GED, and significant college credit in early childhood education or related field of study. CDA or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred. Must have taken an Early Childhood higher education course in the past 3 years and continue every 2 years if no bachelor's degree in an Education related field.

 

Physical Requirements Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl. A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception. Must be able to lift 50 pounds

Morning Floaters. This position requires knowledge of all age groups ranging from Infants to five years of age. The hours for the position are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00am-2:00pm. You must be able to work Monday thru Friday. The possibility of more hours during school breaks and the summer are available. Pay is dependent on experience and education ($9.00 - $11.00 per hour).

 

Qualifications: ECE Degree preferred but not required; ECE majors are encouraged to apply. Experience working with children is required. Knowledge of TN DHS rules and regulations for childcare centers is a plus. Availability for state mandated training outside of regular hours required.

We are seeking certified lifeguards for summer employment. Part Time and Full Time positions are available. Pay is $8-$13 an hour depending on experience level. Morning and afternoon shifts available.

A lifeguard's primary responsibility is to ensure injury prevention by enforcing all rules and regulations of the pool and surrounding area.
